Chicago Police Area-2 Detectives Investigating Murder of 4 Month-Old Infant
The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office released information to news media this morning that they had admitted the body of a 4 month-old female infant to their facility for autopsy. This evening at around 5:37PM, the Medical Examiner released autopsy results stating that the infant had died from injuries due to child abuse, and ruled the death a homicide.
The Chicago Police Department released a statement via CPD Officer Rusanov, a spokesperson for CPD News Affairs, saying:
"in the 7500 block of S. Stony Island Ave on October 18, 2021, at approximately 6:03 pm. A 33-year-old male witness was in a vehicle along with a 4 month old female. The witness noticed that the 4 month old victim was unresponsive. The victim was then transported to Jackson Park Hospital where she was pronounced. Area Two Detectives are investigating."
The Chicago Sun-Times said the statement they received stated "a 24 year-old male" finding 4 month-old Lailanni Fields unresponsive and transported her to Jackson Park Hospital.
