Shooting in Chicago's Austin Neighborhood Becomes SWAT Incident, Homicide


Units of the 025th District responded today to an incident the Chicago Police Dept says started as a man with a gun call in the area of Potomac / Mason around 10:30AM. Chicago Police Dept News Affairs said, "The assigned 025th District Tactical Officers on-viewed four offenders get out of two vehicles, and start shooting at a residence at the listed address. Victims from the house at that address returned fire striking one offender."

News Affairs continued further, saying (quote marks omitted), Other offenders fled the scene in two vehicles. The offender that was shot was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced. Two victims from the house were struck and transported to a local hospital. One of the victims self-transported to the hospital. SWAT was notified, and responded to the scene. 

One adult male, one adult female and a juvenile were safely removed from the residence. Two vehicles were later discovered, one burnt at Chicago / Lockwood and the other one was involved in an auto accident in Oak Park where one offender was taken into custody by Oak Park. Área Five Detectives have two offenders / victims in custody that were in the residence.
