Double Homicide in Chicago's West Humboldt Park
Two men are dead tonight after their paths crossed, gunfire occurred, and the offender was stabbed by the victim in what appears at least for now to be a justifiable homicide.
Around 1:50PM this afternoon, two men at the corner of Division & Pulaski in Chicago's West Humboldt Park neighborhood crossed paths, and their interaction led one to produce a handgun and fire shots at the victim who then stabbed the offender with the gun. The 38 year-old offender who fired the shots was pronounced dead on-scene by Chicago Fire Department Paramedics, and the victim who was shot, a 44 year-old male, was transported to Stroger Hospital where he was later pronounced dead from his gunshot wounds.
Per Chicago Police Dept radio traffic, the 44 year-old victim was shot multiple times in the torso.
Beat cars from the 011th District were assigned to a shot spotter notification via their zone dispatcher where they located both victims. Responding officers then immediately summoned ambulances for both victims. The 011th District Commander also raced to the scene, and the 025th District assisted.
CTA buses were temporarily re-routed while police secured the scene for investigation. Area Four Violent Crimes/Homicide Detectives are investigating. This case is filed under CPD RD# JE-374548 and Event#2120807902.
Chicago-One has reached out to the Cook County Medical Examiner for the identity of the two deceased men from this tragic incident, and is currently awaiting a response.
