Chicago Under Severe Thunderstorm Warning

The National Weather Service Office in Romeoville, Illinois, has issued a SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING for the following areas: 

This event started as severe weather watch# 489, and then became a severe thunderstorm warning for northern Cook County at 1:41PM, when w severe t-storm was spotted by radar over Lake Zurich moving at 55MPH. 

Chicago Police reported at 1:45PM today that they had performed a water rescue on Lake Michigan for people who got caught in 30 knot winds, and were unable to return to shore.

 At 1:52PM, NWS sounded emergency tones on weather radio KZZ-81 and issued a special marine warning for Chicago's Lake Michigan.

By 2:24PM, the National Weather Service stated that a broken line of strong/severe storms continues to move through northern Illinois.
