17 Year-Old Critical After Being Shot Near Western & Warren on Chicago's West Side

Chicago Police News Affairs says at approximately 2:30 p.m. today, a 17-year-old male victim was in the parking lot of gas station when he sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen by an unknown offender. The victim self transported to Stroger Hospital where he was listed critical condition.

Beat 1233 was assigned this initial response and initial investigation after a silver BMW pulled into the ambulance bay of the hospital with the victim inside. Shortly prior to 1233 receiving this assignment, Chicago's Office of Emergency Management and Communications (OEMC) was notified via 911 of shots fired in that area.

Police radio transmissions show the victim was transferred to Stroger Hospital, he did not self-transport there. 012th District tact unit 1261-E was assigned to guard the victim at the hospital, and 1261-B assigned the post shooting mission from Madison to Lake and Oakley to Campbell.

1223 located shell casings on the 2300 block of Warren. 1235 was assigned to guard the casings until an Evidence Tech could arrive. 1261-B spotted a white Infinity traveling at a high rate of speed running red lights from the area of the shooting last seen northbound on Western.

1223 developed information as to the victim's possible identity. 1261-E was able to determine the victim's legal identity, and discovered that the victim has a juvenile arrest background.

This case filed under Chicago Police RD# JE-309152 with Event# 08449
